FAQ
What notation software do you use?
I don't use anything fancy...in fact, it's a free program that you download online. The program is called MuseScore and you can find all the info you need about it here. It probably doesn't have all the bells and whistles that some of the expensive ones do, but it has worked wonderfully for my needs and might for yours too!
What is a good beginner's ukulele?
For children or adults, I personally don't think you need to spend a lot on a ukulele to get started. If you fall in love with the instrument and find yourself wanting to upgrade, then do it! But for a beginner you just need a simple ukulele that you can learn on.
When you look online you can find a range of options - many over $100, yikes! For my kids, I bought these great beginner ukuleles from Diamond Head. They come in a fun variety of colors and my kids each got to pick their favorite one!
The only downside was the strings - they come with really cheap plastic strings. So I HIGHLY recommend purchasing a set of nice ukulele strings (I chose Aquila and have really liked them) and replace those strings as soon as you get your ukulele!

I also included a link to the wall hook we've used for our instruments. It's definitely not a requirement to hang your ukulele, but I've found that when it has a home it will usually be put away there. Less chance of it being sat on, stepped on, etc...but maybe your kids pay better attention to where they are stepping than mine... ;)
